We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Author to join our telecommunications clients’ highly skilled documentation team. You’ll join a friendly and supportive team of eight, working alongside the engineering and support teams.
You’ll primarily be working on your own projects, but with the opportunity to collaborate with other authors. Documentation is extremely varied and includes engineering and end-user documents, embedded help, API documentation and training manuals.

RESPONSIBILITIES
After initial training, you will
- Use engineering documentation and liaise with SME’s to understand new products and solutions
- Create high quality customer-focused technical documentation
- Create and modify simple graphics, diagrams, and screenshots
- Publish documentation in a range of formats to several platforms
- Maintain a high level of technical proficiency
- Peer review other authors’ work within the team.
- Contributing to strategic improvements in processes and documentation, perhaps leading projects to improve the team’s output or migrate to new tools
- Providing leadership and direction to other team members.
REQUIREMENTS
- Experience documenting highly technical concepts
- Bachelor’s degree as a minimum qualification (any subject), with good A-Levels
- Experience of topic-based authoring, preferably structured XML-based authoring (e.g. DITA)
- MS Office proficient
The following would be highly advantageous:
- Experience in telecommunications, especially mobile and networking technologies
- Cloud, container and/or VM technologies.
- Oxygen XML Author, DITA, DITA OT, XML stylesheets, XSLT transforms.
- Issue tracking and source control applications (such as Jira and Git).
- Microsoft Office VBA.
- Management or team leading.
PACKAGE
